Frontal Lobe Dysfunction following closed Head Injury

Abstract
Frontal lobe dysfunction is a central feature of the neuropsychiatric aspects of traumatic brain injury. The frontal lobe has long been regarded as enigmatic in their functon and should be considered even more so in states of dysfunction. The
relationship between frontal lobe pathology and sequelae of closed head injury (CHI) is reviewed. First, an overview of frontal lobe structure and function including behavioral and cognitive sequelae associated with frontal lobe damage are
briefly
summarized. Then findings related to the assessment of frontal dysfunction including the neuropsychological. Neurological. And neurodiagnostic procedures are presented. Finally the considerations in treatment and rehabilitation and potential
avenues for
future research are discussed.
